Peggy Sweeney-McDonald, President – A professional event & meeting planner, specializing in creative meeting and event themes with over 20 years of experience in event and meeting management. Prior to creating SSE-LA, Peggy was the Manager of Meetings & Events for Oakwood Worldwide. Her responsibilities included event concept development, strategy and execution for conferences and annual high energy sales summits, as well as the President’s Incentive Trip. Peggy, the “Theme Queen” has designed and developed event programs such as “Taking the Lead for Sales Success”, a triumphant strategy for a sales meeting theme which took advantage of the current pop culture fascination with professional ballroom dancing. She has also designed “Stepping Up to the Plate”, a baseball themed event which was fun, approachable and educational. Peggy has an amazing ability to seamlessly meld her theatrical background with her event management skills, ultimately creating unique custom interactive programs that consistently delight and engage our clients and their guests.
An active member of Meeting Professional International, Peggy created and led the very popular workshop, “Discovering and Executing Creative Meeting Themes” for both the MPI Southern California Chapter Annual Trade Show and the annual Educational Summit. Peggy was nominated for MPI Rising Star of the Year and Shining Star. Event clients include Aquatech, Kidsave, Premiere Oncology, America’s Wetland Foundation, Louisiana Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana and Premiere Oncology Foundations, California Citrus Mutual, Nancy’s Tree and National Corporate Housing.
In 2010, Peggy created and produced the Meanwhile, Back at Cafe Du Monde… life stories about food event that has been produced over 40 times in Louisiana, Mississippi and California with over 260 “foodies” on board to share a life story about food. Storytellers include chefs, restaurant owners, actors, writers, musicians, politicians, athletes and more. In 2012, a coffee table book of the food stories, pictures and recipes was released by Pelican Publishing. The best selling book has received rave reviews from Emeril Lagasse, Chef John Besh, Rex Reed, Pulitzer Prize winning author Jeffrey Marx and more. It has been reviewed in countless newspapers and magazines including Southern Seasons, Texas Home and Living, Louisiana Cooking, Flavors, Chili Pepper Magazine and more. Peggy has been a featured presenter at the Louisiana Book Festival, Faulkner Society’s Words and Music, Extraordinary Women, California Culinary Historian Society, Chili Pepper Extravaganza in New Orleans, Louisiana Police Association and the University of Southern Mississippi’s Passion of the Palate event.

Melanie Elliot – Event Producer – A Bay Area native, Melanie was an event producer at Venice Interactive Community in Los Angeles, California producing many of their networking events including some of their high end events with budgets over 100K. As a member of Circle X Theatre Company, Melanie was the Associate Producer of the play, Sperm and also served as one of the producers of the Circle X Annual Reading Series. She has worked with Peggy on numerous events including Kidsave’s annual fundraiser at The House of Blues. Recently she produced a sizzle reel for a daytime talk show idea. She holds a B.A. in History from UC Berkeley and a M.F.A. in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University. With her attention-to-detail, outstanding customer relations, and creativity, Melanie is an asset to SuperstarEvents LA.
